Say sorry, Malacca DAP secretary tells 'Hulk'

Malacca DAP deputy chief Norhizam Hassan Baktee has been urged to apologise for his heated exchange with a group of residents.
The call came from the state chapter's secretary Khoo Poay Tiong.
“My personal view is that he should apologise to the public for the choice of words and his attitude. He should apologise, that is my opinion,” he told Malaysiakini this evening.
Khoo said Malacca DAP would hold a press conference, where its chief Tey Kok Kiew is expected to make a statement on the matter.
“We are arranging the press conference, we will have it soon… The party wants him to apologise,” he added.
A video of Norhizam, who is also a state exco member, raising his voice during a dialogue with the residents yesterday over the closure of a road has since gone viral on social media.
The Pengkalan Batu assemblyperson, who claims that he transforms into the “Hulk” when his constituents are bullied, blamed the altercation on an “Umno branch leader” for provoking him with a barrage of questions.
"I have to admit that I am short-tempered, and the man knew that and how to provoke me.
“I am not a sissy and wouldn't kowtow to tactics used by my foes to paint a negative picture that I'm a rowdy and loudmouthed leader," he had said.
Khoo said while the decision to close the road might not have been wrong, Norhizam, however, must apologise for the manner in which he handled the situation.
“We have no comment on his decision to close the road… It is about his attitude when he speaks.
“We are public figures, we have to be careful. If not, we will be in an unfavourable situation although what we did was for the right purpose.
“People will only focus on his reaction and the words he used towards the public. That will be the highlight,” he added.

To another question, Khoo said DAP would also discuss Norhizam's position in the party.
“We will discuss it later. We have not reached that level yet, but I mean, yes, we will discuss it,” he added. - Mkini
