PETALING JAYA: Organisers of the "405" rally – supposedly being held to defend the sovereignty of Islam – have fully complied with all requirements under the Peaceful Assembly Act and the gathering will be allowed to proceed.
Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Fahmi Visuvanathan Abdullah said rally organisers had already submitted a notice to the police over the planned rally.
"We met the organisers as well to discuss the rules and regulations for the rally.
"It is expected to be held between 2pm and 5pm. Rally-goers will march from Masjid Jamek to Sogo," he said on Friday (May 3).
ACP Mohd Fahmi said sufficient police personnel would be deployed to ensure everyone's safety.
"We will also facilitate traffic for the convenience of other road users as such gatherings are bound to cause some congestion.

The rally, which will take place in the city centre, is organised by Gerakan Pembela Ummah and other NGOs.
The organisers say that the event is to protest against the Pakatan Harapan government for allegedly sidelining Malays and Muslims on issues pertaining to the Rome Statute, the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (Icerd), the Unified Examination Certificate, the death of fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim in the Seafield temple riots in Subang Jaya among others.
Meanwhile, rally director Kamaruzaman Mohamad called on the participants to adhere to the regulations as it is a peaceful rally.
"Everyone must follow the orders of their respective team leaders and come early to perform the Zohor prayers at Masjid Jamek before the march starts.
"Do not bring or carry any weapons or sharp objects. Don't provoke or respond to any provocation," he said, adding that participants should also report any provocation they see to the authorities.
Kamaruzaman said participants should also disperse in an orderly manner at the accorded time and to collect any rubbish nearby.
"We hope everything will goes smoothly as our ultimate goal is to have a peaceful gathering to voice our opinions," he said.- Star
