The Sabah Government should take over the task of running its own education in Sabah from the Federal Government, without any further delay and excuses.
Sabah is a place where racial and religious harmony is the norm and it can certainly do without the very racist and shortsighted policy of the current federal government.
The matriculation system, which the federal government has shamelessly defended, is only one of the many unfair policies which we don’t need to endure anymore. The rest includes university entrance, scholarships and many others.
Furthermore, Sabah does not need a Federal Ministry of Education that finds all the excuses in not recognising the UEC which, until today, only amounts to empty promises after their successful electoral mandate.
Sabah can do much better by not wasting our own time and money over the stupid dilemma of whether to wear white shoes or black shoes in the schools.
If the Sabah government is serious in preparing for our young people to meet the demand of future job market, and to enable them to serve the country better, then Sabah has no choice but to divorce ourselves from the inherently defective education policy of the federal.
Let's hope the current Sabah government, with a ministry which has been tasked with the education affairs, is not merely paying lip service.
