The MACC will call a Hindu NGO leader over his claim that officers involved in an ongoing probe into temple land had allegedly leaked information to the suspects.
MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Azam Baki said today that investigations are still ongoing, and Hindu Agamam Ani Malaysia Association adviser Arun Doraisamy will be contacted to gather more information.
"Yes we will call," Azam told Malaysiakini today.
"As I said, we will investigate both cases. The case against my officers and the main case as well."
On May 18, Arun urged the MACC to investigate three of its officers who allegedly leaked information linked to a case involving a 'tan sri' and his 'datuk' son.
He claimed that three MACC officers met with the 'datuk' for breakfast on May 4 – the same day a separate team raided, arrested and obtained a three-day remand order against the 'tan sri' and his son under Section 16 (a) of the MACC Act 2009.
Arun (photo), who revealed that he had lodged the MACC report which triggered the raid, said the alleged leak concerned an ongoing probe into the development of a plot of land belonging to the Sri Mahamariamman Devasthanam temple in Kuala Lumpur.
At the time, Azam said in response that the MACC will look into both cases.
Arun also sent a letter to MACC chief commissioner Mohd Shukri Abdull about the purported leak on May 16.
A copy of the letter sighted by Malaysiakini showed that the commission had acknowledged its receipt.
Earlier today, Arun told a press conference that the MACC had yet to contact him over the alleged leak, but that he looked forward to assisting in both investigations.
"I was hoping that the MACC would contact us, but not yet.
"I really hope that they will be doing so soon," he said ahead of Hindu Agamam Ani's second Temple and Community Service Conference at the Petaling Jaya Civic Hall. - Mkini
