KOTA KINABALU: Police have confirmed that they have not received any report about a minister attacking a policeman.
A message had spread on social media alleging Sabah Infrastructure Development minister Datuk Peter Anthony was involved in a brawl with a policeman during a drinking session in Lintas near here.
Jatil Junggok, the minister's political secretary, lodged a report at the Penampang police station on Wednesday (May 15) over the allegations.
He said that the incident could not have occurred as Anthony was in Sandakan helping out with the by-election campaign when the alleged brawl took place.
Jatil urged the police to take action against owner of the "Selvaraja Somiah" Facebook account, where the post appeared, for slandering and tarnishing the minister's image.
Penampang police chief DSP Mohd Haris Ibrahim said they received the report, but had forwarded the case to Kota Marudu as a similar report was filed there.
"They will be carrying out investigations," he said.- Star
