PAS-led Kelantan snubs Husam's offer to negotiate on oil royalty

Deputy Kelantan Menteri Besar Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah has snubbed the state's Pakatan Harapan chairperson Husam Musa's offer to negotiate with the federal government on payment of oil royalties.
Putrajaya had promised to pay oil royalty to Kelantan once it retracts a lawsuit on the matter against the federal government but a delay in the withdrawal of the suit meant that the payment is also delayed.
"The state government had agreed to withdraw the suit and the court had set April 17 for a decision but unfortunately no representative from the federal government or Petronas was present during the session.
"This caused the case to be postponed to May 17. On our side, we have already stated we have no problems (to withdraw the suit).
"So what is the point of having a middle person when we are already waiting for the process of payment. Furthermore, what can Husam do when he is not a minister," Mohd Amar told journalists after chairing the state exco meeting in Kota Bharu today.
Husam (photo), who had advocated for the payment of oil royalty to Kelantan since his days as a PAS leader, had offered to act as the go-between amid the oil royalty delays.
Husam was sacked from PAS in 2016 amid a fallout with its conservative leadership and subsequently joined Amanah.
Dismissing Husam's offer, Mohd Amar said Economic Affairs Minister Azmin Ali had already given the state government assurance that they will be paid the oil royalty.
"We will also hold the prime minister to his promise," he said. - Mkini
