SANDAKAN POLLS | The Sandakan by-election campaign is well underway, but so far there is no indication that former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak will be joining the campaign.
Najib and his "bossku" character has been a regular feature during the past three by-election campaigns, where he would hold meet-the-people sessions during the day and be on ceramah stages at night.
When Najib was asked in the High Court in Kuala Lumpur today whether he was bringing the "bossku" character to Sandakan, he said this would depend on whether there was a demand.
"Are they asking me to go there?" he asked.
The "bossku" character was hatched during the Cameron Highlands by-election campaign, where Najib transformed himself from a stoic aristocrat to a more personable character.
BN has won three by-elections in a row since the emergence of Najib's "bossku" persona.
In the case of Sandakan, BN is sitting out the by-election and the only opposition party taking part is Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS).
Incidentally, the term "bossku" originated in Sabah, where it is used as an informal address among friends.
The Sandakan by-election will be held on May 11. -Mkini
