SANDAKAN POLLS | PBS has urged the police to return a confiscated banner before polling day on Saturday.
In a statement today, PBS deputy president Yee Moh Chai said there has been no feedback from the police since the confiscation on May 2.
"I hope the police can speed up their investigation and decide whether we (PBS) have committed any offence.
"If not, please return our banner because it will be a piece of rubbish if you return it to us after the polling (this Saturday)," he said.
He said the police should either charge PBS with an offence or return the banner.
On May 2, a large billboard was erected by PBS at Batu 3 Jalan Utara, Sandakan as part of its campaign for the constituency's by-election this Saturday.
The banner cited an Astro AEC news report about DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng which has since been rescinded due to errors.
Attempts to figure out who removed the banner have been unsuccessful as both the police and EC are passing the buck on who gave the order.
Previously, Yee had informed the press that police had removed the banner under Section 504 of the Penal Code for intentional insult to provoke a breach of the peace.
PBS has since replaced the banner with a truncated version. This morning, a DAP billboard appeared alongside it pointing out that the news report cited had been retracted. - Mkini
