Amirudin blames traffic for no-show at PKR meet

Selangor PKR chief Amirudin Shari said he could not attend the party's central leadership council (MPP) meeting yesterday because he was stuck in traffic.
"Traffic was bad yesterday. I had to attend a function that was far from the party headquarters.
"I was in Selangor, but there were traffic jams. Selangor has a lot of cars. It is a developed state," he told reporters outside the Selangor Legislative Assembly today.
Amirudin, the Selangor menteri besar, was among the big names aligned to PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali who skipped the MPP meeting yesterday.
The others are Wanita PKR chief Haniza Talha, along with vice-presidents Zuraida Kamaruddin and Tian Chua.
The absence of Azmin and his top lieutenants from the meetings of PKR's main decision-making body has raised questions about widening cracks within the party.
Meanwhile, Amirudin said he will attend MPP meetings in the future if it does not clash with his state government duties.
"I have a responsibility to turn up. I will if I can," he said.
Amirudin drew the highest votes during the election of 20 members to the MPP last year. - Mkini
