Mujahid to table new Islamic administration policy in Cabinet

Cabinet minister Mujahid Yusof says the new Islamic policy was aimed at creating a nation based on divine mercy.
MELAKA: A working paper will be tabled at a Cabinet meeting soon on the concept of “Rahmatan Lil Alamin” (mercy to all creation) as a new policy of Islamic administration in Malaysia.
Mujahid Yusof Rawa, minister for Islamic affairs in the Prime Minister’s Department, said that the proposal paper was now in the final stage of drafting.
‘’The journey to carry the Rahmatan Lil Alamin concept based on Maqasid Syariah (goals or objectives of shariah) is no mere empty talk but it is set to be turned into an official policy of the Islamic administration in the country soon,’’ he said.
Earlier today, he presented a working paper on The Idea of Rahmah (Divine Mercy) in New Malaysia at a convention of religious scholars (Nunji 2019) in Ayer Keroh.
Mujahid has previously explained that the concept of Rahmatan Lil Alamin was a major approach which was brought by the government towards creating a nation of divine mercy.
A working paper had been approved by the Islamic National Council for Islamic Religious Affairs on March 14 at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Mujahid said the Nunji conference, which was started four years ago, was a platform aimed at reinvigorating the thinking of Muslims so as not to be too rigid and stiff.
‘’Nunji’s role is as an input in moulding today’s society by using the Islamic narrative under the ‘Rahmatan Lil Alamin’ and ‘Maqasid Syariah’ concepts brought by the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government,’’ he said.
The one-day convention also presented renowned figures to explain to the people about the “Maqasid Syariah” concept.
‘’Maqasid Syariah must be popularised so that the public understands that doing something for national development, doing something for national well-being and also national peace are also the rules of religion brought by Islam,’’ he said.
Mujahid also hoped that the 1,300 participants would become ambassadors to spread the ideas to the masses. - FMT
