KUALA LUMPUR: Perlis police are looking for a mother-and-son duo over the assault of a teenager.
State police chief Noor Mushar Mohd said investigations were launched after they received a report from a Welfare Department (JKM) officer today.
“The officer received instructions from Perlis JKM to investigate a complaint on Facebook that a 14-year-old girl was assaulted and neglected by her guardian in Arau.
“She alleged her brother and mother had beaten her,” he said in a statement.
Mushar added that there were old injuries on the girl’s back and left hand, and a fresh injury on the back of her neck.
He said police are in the midst of looking for the girl’s brother and the mother, who sells nasi lemak.
“We are also looking for witnesses to assist in the investigations,” Mushar said.
He added the teenager will be sent to a hospital for a check-up. - FMT
