Expect delays on Kelana Jaya LRT line, says RapidKL

The benefits of using public transportation include better air quality, reduced traffic congestion and improved community mobility.

PETALING JAYA: Commuters have been advised by RapidKL to expect delays on the Kelana Jaya LRT line due to technical issues.

In a series of Twitter posts, RapidKL said trains were stopping for longer periods between the Universiti and KL Sentral stations heading towards Gombak due to a switch disruption.

“A technical team is on-site for repairs. Trains will be manually operated between the KL Sentral and Pasar Seni stations.

“Commuters may refer to the station officer or auxiliary policemen for assistance. We apologise for the inconvenience. Thank you for your patience,” it said, adding that more updates would follow.

Netizens had taken to social media to complain about the service disruptions, with some quipping that they had tried to skip the rush-hour crowd but were still forced to wait longer for trains.

“No wonder so many people are stranded at the Masjid Jamek station,” said Twitter user @Peachymomo14, in response to RapidKL’s announcements.

Last month, transport minister Loke Siew Fook told commuters to expect disruptions on the Kelana Jaya LRT line in the coming months, all the way to the third quarter of this year.

Loke said there were 56 LRT train sets operating on the Kelana Jaya line, of which 18 were under maintenance, meaning that only 38 were in use.

This was why train frequency had been at five minutes lately, even during peak hours, he said. - FMT
