SEREMBAN: Negeri Sembilan’s state legislative assembly will be dissolved in either May or June to make way for the state elections, said menteri besar Aminuddin Harun.

In an AstroAwani report, Aminuddin said this was in line with the state government’s commitment to serve its full five-year term – adding that he wanted the state to be focused on economic revival at the start of the year.

“We’ve said it before that God willing, it (the dissolution) will be around May or June, which means we would have reached the end of our five-year mandate,” he said.

“We will make the best of this year to ensure that the state can be administered as well as possible,” he said after an event here in Wisma Negeri.

Negeri Sembilan, Selangor and Penang, which are controlled by Pakatan Harapan (PH), and Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu, governed by PAS, decided not to hold their state elections simultaneously with the 15th general election (GE15) on Nov 19.

PH will meet on Saturday to discuss the six upcoming state elections, including the possibility of working with Barisan Nasional, said PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail on Tuesday.

Saifuddin added that PH’s presidential council would also use the meeting to hold a post-mortem on GE15. - FMT
