Malaysian singer-rapper Namewee, whose real name is Wee Meng Chee, recently called out an artiste for allegedly raping his friend.
In an Instagram story posted on Sunday (Jan 15), the 39-year-old Muar native said: "You forced yourself on my friend and didn’t use a condom. You would've been put behind bars and become roommates with 'Toothpick' if you were caught in your motherland. It’s not that I don't want to report you. The time hasn’t come yet."
Though Namewee never mentioned any names, netizens speculate that "toothpick" could be referring to disgraced Chinese-Canadian singer Kris Wu who was jailed for sexual assault.
He was given the nickname "Wu Toothpick" by his victim Du Meizhu according to Korean entertainment site, Koreaboo.
The next day (Jan 16), Namewee went on another tirade, lambasting the artiste for taking advantage of his friend and being ignorant to potential harmful consequences.
"What would you do if she got pregnant? She thought she could meet her idol up close but you took advantage of that. How hard is it to carry a condom in your wallet when you go out? You make so much money," he lamented.
Later that night, Namewee clarified that the reason he didn't contact the police nor expose the identity of the latter was because his friend begged him not to.
"If she called the police or told the media, will the public believe her? Will his fans believe her or will they keep bullying and accusing her of offering herself?
"This is why I always say, 'like idol, like fan'. I wish all these people barking will take two minutes to apologise," he wrote.
