Plead to PKR appeals board, not Anwar - Rafizi advises Tian Chua

PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli has advised former party stalwart Tian Chua to appeal his sacking from the party to its appeals board, instead of directly to PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.

He said this is because a direct appeal will give a negative and biased impression compared to other members who were also fired.

"I suggest to Chua that if he wants to appeal for mercy from the president, it is better to go through the appeal board process... in the end, the decision is made by the MPP (central leadership council).

"The appeals board will present it back to the MPP to make the final decision," Rafizi (above, left) told a press conference after speaking at the Selangor state assembly election convention at IDCC Shah Alam today.

He said this when asked about Chua's hope that Anwar would forgive him through his power as president.

Chua's party membership was terminated last week because he contested as an independent against a PKR candidate in GE15 last November.

"We would be giving a bad signal to other members if we have a double standard for this person. There is no need for that.

"It has to be fair to all and the process goes through the appeals board. Appeals at the appeals board and other appeals are up to him (Chua to make)," Rafizi added.

No election petition against Muhyiddin

On a separate issue, Rafizi said PKR will not file an election petition against Perikatan Nasional chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin following his wild allegations linking Pakatan Harapan with Jewish and Christian groups trying to take over Malaysia.

Rather, he said Harapan's focus at the moment is to manage the national economy and prepare for the state election which is expected to take place in a few months.

"I think it (petition) will not be processed. Because the focus of these four to five months is to manage the national economy and state elections.

"I don't want to bring the last election process into the party's and leadership's priorities even though I can (file a petition) against Muhyiddin's racist speech about the Christian and Jewish campaign which gave room for a lot of religious and racial polemics," he added.

Muhyiddin made the allegation at a PN ceramah in Parit Jawa, Johor on Nov 16.

Two days later, Rafizi warned Muhyiddin that his allegations could cause the former prime minister to vacate his Pagoh stronghold even if he successfully defended the seat. - Mkini
