Masiung heads Sabah’s Sedco, Anifah takes over Qhazanah Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: Five-term Kuamut assemblyman Datuk Masiung Banah has been appointed as the new Sabah Economic Development Corporation (Sedco) chairman with ministerial status.

Masiung replaces Kemabong Assemblyman Datuk Rubin Balang, who is now the state Rural Development Minister following the formation of the new state coalition government.

Masiung, who also retains the position of chairman of the government-linked Borneo Cement (S) Sdn Bhd, thanked Hajiji for his appointment as Sedco chairman and hopes to do his best to promote the state’s development agenda through Sedco.

Masiung retained his Kuamut state seat in Kinabatangan with a 457-vote majority.

Meanwhile, Parti Cinta Sabah (PCS) president Tan Sri Anifah Aman has been appointed Qhazanah Sabah Bhd chairman, replacing former Sindumin assemblyman Datuk Dr Yusof Yacob, who did not contest in the last state election.

“I will conduct the duties entrusted to me as best I can for the sake of the Sabah government,” the former foreign minister said in a Facebook post.

Anifah had unsuccessfully contested the Bongwan state seat under the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) ticket. - Star
