
NOMINATIONS for the Kinabatangan parliamentary by-election and Lamag state seat concluded smoothly today, setting the stage for a high-stakes contest following the passing of the late Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin.
The by-election for the Kinabatangan parliamentary seat and Lamag state seat (DUN) was triggered by the death of Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, who previously held both constituencies.

All five nomination papers were accepted without objection. This was confirmed by the election officer Eddy Syaizul Rizam Abdullah.
In the Kinabatangan Parliament we will see a three-cornered fight. Barisan Nasional’s (BN) Mohd Naim Kurniawan Moktar will have two opponents, Parti Warisan’s Datuk Saddi Abdul Rahman Independent candidate Goldam Hamid.
Lamag DUN will see a straight fight. BN: Miha (Mohd Ismail Ayob) will have Parti Warisan’s Mazliwati Abdul Malek as opponent.
Ramlan Harun described the process (9.00am to 10.00am) as calm, orderly, and disciplined.
