KUALA LUMPUR: A fire gutted two flat units on the fourth floor of Block 3 at Rumah Pangsa Taman Wilayah Selayang here last night, but no casualties were reported.
Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department said it received an emergency call at 8.45pm before dispatching teams from the Jinjang Fire and Rescue Station, with assistance from the Gombak Selatan and Jalan Hang Tuah stations.
"A total of 25 personnel were deployed, involving two Rescue Tender (FRT) engines, one Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit, a water tanker and an aerial ladder platform," the department said in a statement.
According to Senior Operations Commander PBT II Ahmad Shapri Mohd Sham, firefighters found the blaze had already engulfed two units measuring 20 by 20 square feet each, resulting in destruction.
"The operation employed both offensive and defensive firefighting techniques to prevent the fire from spreading to neighbouring homes," he said.
The fire was brought under control at 9.20pm and fully extinguished at 10.50pm.
Authorities said the cause of the fire remains under investigation. - NST
