BAYAN LEPAS: Two seven-year-old cousins narrowly escaped drowning in a hotel swimming pool here today.
The boy and girl were rushed to a nearby private hospital before being transferred to Penang Hospital for further treatment.
The boy is reported to be in stable condition, while his female cousin has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Southwest district police chief Assistant Commissioner Anuwal Ab Wahab confirmed that a report was lodged by the victims' relatives at the Queensbay police station.
"The case involving the two children is still under investigation," he said when contacted today.
A relative of one of the children declined to comment further, requesting privacy for the family.
It is understood that the cousins were swimming in the pool at 8am. They had reportedly arrived from Kedah with their families yesterday for a holiday. - NST
