PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested three Filipino nationals, including a 14-year-old, to assist in an investigation into the assault of a municipal council enforcement officer at the Batu 8 market area in Sandakan, Sabah.
Sandakan police chief George Rakman said the trio admitted during questioning to being involved in the assault, Bernama reported.
He said the suspects, who tested negative for drug use, have been remanded under Sections 186, 332 and 147 of the Penal Code for obstructing and injuring a public servant, and for rioting.
In the 2.30pm incident on Friday, the officer reprimanded a man believed to be openly selling duty-free cigarettes in the area. An argument broke out and the officer was attacked by several men.
A video clip of the assault has been widely circulated on social media. - FMT
