Bersih is seeking answers from the authorities after two “police personnel” visited the electoral reform group’s office this morning and demanded to know the whereabouts of its leaders.
In a statement, the Bersih steering committee said the two individuals arrived at its office in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, at about 11.30am, but it was closed.
The individuals, who were in plainclothes, then went to a nearby office that housed another NGO, where they identified themselves as police officers and started asking questions about Bersih.
“They spoke to representatives of the NGO asking about our (Bersih) whereabouts.
“Based on information we received, the individuals did not state the reason for their visit, while we also did not receive any official notification from the police to assist in any investigation.
“If the two individuals are real police officers, we urge the police to confirm the visit and send an official notice to Bersih,” the group said.
