KUALA LUMPUR: The heatwave in Malaysia is intensifying, with temperatures high enough to cook an egg under the sun.
A video went viral after a woman in Padang Terap, Kedah, and her child attempted to fry an egg in a pan left to heat in the blazing sun.
Uploaded to TikTok by Zamira, the video shows the egg starting to cook after nearly an hour.
"An egg experiment with today's temperature at 38 degrees celsius in Padang Terap. It's hot," she said in the video.
That day, Padang Terap recorded a Level 2 heatwave, with daily temperatures ranging between 37 degrees celcius and 40 degrees celcius for at least three consecutive days.
Since being uploaded on Monday, the video has garnered over 3.5 million views, with netizens expressing concern over the intense heat during Hari Raya.
"It's even worse for us in Perak — the heat is intense, and on the first day of Raya there was no water for a whole day. Really exhausting," said user @dayanaazmn.
"Even my phone became unusable because it was too hot," added user @pali4002. - NST
