KOTA BARU: The main suspect in the brutal murder of a college student, who was found with 61 stab wounds in Ketereh on April 30, is expected to be charged with murder tomorrow.
Sources said the 19-year-old suspect would be charged at the magistrate's court here.
However, they said whether another 19-year-old arrested in connection with the case would be charged with anything has yet to be determined.
"On May 8, the remand order for the two youths was extended by seven days to facilitate investigations into the murder of the 19-year-old college student.
"One of them is expected to be charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder," a source said.
On April 30, the body of Nurfisya Zulkifly was found in Kampung Padang Sima, Ketereh, with 61 stab wounds on her body.
Police said the victim was found without identification documents, but her identity was later confirmed through fingerprint records from the National Registration Department.
Police believe the victim was killed elsewhere before her body was dumped at the location.
Four people — two 19-year-old men and an elderly couple who were the parents of one of the teens — were initially detained in connection with the case.
The couple, however, were released later on.
Police said investigators believed jealousy was the reason for the killing. - NST
