PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang is set to launch former Bersatu deputy president Hamzah Zainudin’s Reset convention in Tanah Merah, Kelantan, tomorrow, amid shifting political allegiances in Perikatan Nasional.
Hadi’s speech to an expected thousands of attendees was announced today by organisers behind the Reset convention, as well as through PAS channels.
When contacted, Tasek Gelugor MP Wan Saiful Wan Jan said that Hadi had accepted the invitation without hesitation.
“We invited, and he agreed. It’s a straightforward matter,” the former Bersatu supreme council member told Malaysiakini.
Separately, Hadi’s political secretary, Syahir Sulaiman, said Hamzah had met with the Marang MP at his Rusila residence and personally received the nod.

“The invite was pre-informed to us, but yesterday they (Hadi and Hamzah) met in person.
“InsyaAllah, there will be an important announcement,” the Bachok MP told Malaysiakini without elaborating.
Meanwhile, Hadi confirmed that he will be making “several announcements” tomorrow.
“On Wednesday (June 17), there will be a PAS meeting where a decision will be made,” Hadi said in a video after his daily sermon at Masjid Rusila.
Hadi berates Bersatu
Yesterday, Hadi opened fire against Bersatu and listed a series of allegations that purportedly justified the party’s decision to end ties with its Perikatan Nasional component partner.
He also hinted that PAS has since gained new allies who had been expelled from Bersatu, crediting them as a “new source of strength” for the party.
Meanwhile, Wan Saiful said Hadi was chosen to launch the Reset convention as a sign of the movement’s intention to cooperate with parties that share its agenda.
“And from the beginning, we have stated the value of our ties with PAS,” he said.

Wan Saiful added that Kelantan, a PAS stronghold state, was chosen after deliberating the risks of “disruptions” that could force a last-minute cancellation.
Previously, Wan Saiful said Hamzah is expected to announce the Reset movement’s political direction, particularly regarding its participation in a political party ahead of the upcoming state elections.
Hamzah had launched his Reset movement on Feb 14, alongside supporting MPs and grassroots members, a day after his sacking from Bersatu.
The former minister had also indicated readiness to lead the movement based on a new national consensus. - Mkini
