The Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court has set Sept 3 to hear the prime minister’s former senior political secretary Shamsul Iskandar Akin’s application to stay his corruption proceedings pending his appeal to transfer his case to the High Court.
According to Bernama, the prosecution did not object to the stay application, which Shamsul’s lawyer, Amer Hamzah Arshad, said was filed yesterday.
Amer said the High Court rejected the transfer application and the defence has since appealed to the Court of Appeal, which will hear the case on Jan 19 next year.
Two of the uncontactable Malaysians who went missing during the Nepal floods are officers from the Fire and Rescue Department.
Its director-general Nor Hisham Mohammad told The Star that the duo - department special forces team member Fakhrul Munir Isa and senior officer Sani Harul - were part of a group of 10 Malaysians.
He said they were trekking and travelling by jeep along the Tibetan route towards the Everest Base Camp after departing from Malaysia on Monday night. - Mkini
