DAP Youth has urged Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to announce three “national day gifts” for Malaysians in his upcoming national day address.
In a statement, the wing's chief, Woo Kah Leong, proposed increasing the monthly Budi Madani petrol subsidy quota to 300 litres, raising diesel subsidy allocations in Sabah and Sarawak, and increasing the e-Invoice implementation threshold to businesses with annual turnover of RM5 million and above.
Woo (above) said the government’s efforts to strengthen fiscal resilience and carry out structural reforms are important, but their implementation should consider the cost pressures faced by ordinary Malaysians, young people, grassroots workers and micro-enterprises.
He said national unity and stability must be underpinned by policies that address people’s everyday concerns and protect their basic well-being.
Woo also urged the government to adopt a more gradual and inclusive approach to reforms, strengthen inter-ministerial coordination and make alleviating the people’s burden a central priority while maintaining fiscal discipline.
The Jalur Gemilang has never distinguished between Malays, Chinese, Indians, Kadazan-Dusuns, Ibans or any other race, nor between Muslims, Buddhists, Christians, Hindus or people of any other faith, said the Selangor sultan.
Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah said the national flag was not merely a symbol to be flown during Merdeka celebrations, but represented a country owned and shared by all Malaysians.

“This flag belongs to all of us. We should be proud because it is a symbol of national unity,” he said in a statement issued today.
He also urged Malaysians to use the 69th anniversary of the country's independence as an opportunity to strengthen unity, solidarity and mutual respect, while remembering and appreciating the contributions of Malaysians who had worked throughout their lives to unite society and bridge differences. - Mkini
