2 Bersatu reps in Pahang back Wan Rosdy until next state polls

 Jasri Jamaludin and Yazid Yunus say the decision was agreed upon by the party’s top leadership to safeguard political stability.

Kuala Sentul assemblyman Jasri Jamaludin and Lepar assemblyman Yazid Yunus are Bersatu’s only elected representatives in Pahang’s 42-seat state assembly.

Two Bersatu assemblymen in Pahang have declared their support for menteri besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail until the next state election.

Kuala Sentul assemblyman Jasri Jamaludin and Lepar assemblyman Yazid Yunus said in a joint statement that the move was agreed upon by Bersatu’s top leadership.

They said the move took into account the need to safeguard political stability in Pahang and protect their constituents’ welfare.

“With the consensus reached together with the Pahang menteri besar, we believe development and the welfare of the people in the Kuala Sentul and Lepar constituencies will receive attention from the Pahang state government,” they said.

Jasri and Yazid, Bersatu’s only elected representatives in the Pahang assembly, also said they would continue carrying out their duties and cooperate with the state administration.

They said this was to protect the development, welfare and interests of the people.

“We believe that amid the dynamic political circumstances, the interests of the people, state stability, and the continuity of good governance must always be a priority,” they said.

Pahang’s 42-seat assembly is currently governed by a unity administration comprising Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH). BN holds 17 seats while PH has eight, giving the coalition 25 seats. Perikatan Nasional holds the remaining 17 seats, 15 of which are under PAS. The other two are held by Jasri and Yazid.

Wan Rosdy, the Pahang BN chairman, said earlier this month that BN wanted the unity government with PH to remain in place until the next general election. - FMT
