LRT car park theft, Bandar Bukit Tinggi commuter finds car stripped of wheels

KUALA LUMPUR: A routine commute turned into a nightmare for Threads user Nani Jismani when she returned to her car at the Bandar Bukit Tinggi LRT station car park after work, only to find it propped up on concrete blocks with two wheels missing.

Horrified, she shared photos of her stripped vehicle on social media.

"I just came back from work to find my car tyres stolen like this? I even paid for parking this morning. Is no one guarding this area? Everyone parking here, please be careful," she wrote on Aug 18.

She later added: "Only two tyres were stolen. There was an attempt to steal the front left tyre as well, but the wheel studs broke. The car door was open because I had opened it to put my things inside."

She said her car was fitted only with standard factory rims and, although it had a dashcam installed, it did not record 24/7.

In the comments section, other users recounted similar experiences.

One user said that after upgrading to slightly nicer sports rims, thieves stole all 4 tyres from their car, despite it being parked inside a gated and guarded apartment complex.

Meanwhile, in a subsequent post on Aug 20, Nani confirmed that police had acted swiftly and arrested a suspect in connection with the theft.

Although the suspect had already sold the rims, police managed to recover the stolen tyres, she said.

Nani expressed her gratitude to the Klang police, RapidKL Bukit Tinggi staff and auxiliary police for their assistance on the day of the incident.

She added that she was currently dealing directly with the car park management over compensation. - NST
