BUTTERWORTH: A video of a group of motorcyclists using a car lane at the Penang Bridge toll plaza has sparked criticism online.

Footage shared by the Penang Kini Facebook page showed several motorcyclists riding through the car lane instead of the designated motorcycle lane. It is not known when the incident occurred.

The post prompted calls for enforcement action, with social media users urging authorities to review CCTV footage and take action if offences were committed.

One user, Anuar Mnoor, tagged the police and the Road Transport Department, saying CCTV footage should be used to trace and fine the riders.

Another commenter, Shahrom Nizam Jelmol, suggested the motorcycle lane might have been blocked by a roadblock, forcing riders to use the car lane.

Zainol Zaki Zaini claimed previous enforcement operations at the motorcycle lanes had caused some riders to avoid the route. - NST
