Wanita chief Aiman Athirah Sabu says a formal agreement is necessary to put any cooperation between Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional on a firm footing.

Wanita PH chief Aiman Athirah Sabu said an agreement is necessary to ensure the cooperation is on firm footing. “If previously there was no agreement, then this time there should be one,” Berita Harian quoted her as saying.
Aiman’s remarks come days after PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang said discussions between Perikatan Nasional and BN were continuing, although no agreement had been reached.
PH cooperated with BN in 2023 for the state elections in Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, Penang, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu. The two coalitions also joined forces for two by-elections.
However, at the recent Negeri Sembilan state election, BN joined forces with PN with an understanding not to contest each other.
BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi initially said Umno-led BN would continue its alliance with PN in the Melaka polls, following their victory at the Aug 1 election in Negeri Sembilan.
However, BN insisted on defending the 21 seats it won in the 2021 Melaka polls and has since said it is open to discussions with any coalition.
The term of the Melaka government expires on Dec 31, unless the state assembly is dissolved earlier. Elections must be held within 60 days of dissolution. - FMT
