Federal territories PAS to set up 11 task forces for GE16

Federal territories PAS will establish 11 task forces comprising professionals, technocrats, and activists to formulate policies ahead of the 16th general election (GE16).

Federal territories PAS commissioner Azhar Yahya said these groups are part of the Islamic party’s preparations to govern the federal territories and oversee the federal territories ministry, Berita Harian reported.

Azhar said that previously PAS might have been perceived as being made up mainly of religious scholars, but the party actually has many professionals who can help develop the federal territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.

“We want to highlight that PAS has many professionals with expertise in their respective fields.

“These task forces reflect our commitment to formulate a more structured, realistic and people-oriented agenda,” he said at the state chapter’s convention in Kuala Lumpur today.

The state chapter had put forward 12 resolutions for federal territories’ residents at the convention, covering issues such as affordable housing, public transport, and the cost of living.

Azhar said federal territories PAS will unveil its manifesto for GE16 based on research conducted by its professionals under the state chapter’s research institute. - FMT
