'Please give me back my son'

JEMPOL: A 28-year-old woman from Pattani, Thailand drove more than 800km in the hope of being reunited with her son, whom she had been separated from since two years ago.
But her dreams were crushed when she learnt that her son, Alif Hiransumton, 4, had been taken away by a local couple, who earlier had been entrusted to care for the boy.

When met at Arked Mara here today, Alice Jarong said, her son was only seven-months-old when she first brought him into the country.
"The woman used to work at my mother's restaurant in Bandar Seri Jempol in 2014. She was a very good worker and close to my family. We had no problem when she volunteered to care for my son. I even allowed my son to sleep over at her place on various occasions," she said.
"In 2015, I had to return to Pattani as my eldest son was about to start school. I left Alif with her temporarily; I had trusted her as she used to bring my son to the restaurant every day. I visited him whenever I made the trip here," she said.

Alice said everything started to change in April last year, when her mother told the woman of her plan to close her business.
At the same time, Alice had also informed the woman of her plans to bring Alif back to Thailand.
She was shocked when her mother told her that the woman had fled with Alif.
"I managed to track her down on Dec 21 through a friend who had given me the woman's contact number as soon as she saw my plea, posted on Facebook.
"I begged the woman to return my son and she had promised to meet me on Dec 23," she said.
The woman however failed to keep her promise. Attempts to reach her via phone were unsuccessful.
Following to this, a police report had been lodged at the Gurun police station in Kedah at 12.36pm yesterday.
Another police report was also lodged by the victim at the Bandar Seri Jempol police station at 2am today.
Alice also urged those with information of the woman and her son's whereabouts to contact her at 017-410 0539 or 016-444 8103.
Meanwhile, Jempol district police chief, Superintendent Muhd Nur Hishamuddin Hashim confirmed that the department had received a report from the victim and the case will be further investigated.
