'Chinese not mentioned much in Harapan manifesto'

MCA publicity spokesperson Ti Lian Ker (above) has accused the DAP of caving into the "ethnocentric policies" of Bersatu, pointing out that Pakatan Harapan's election manifesto only mentioned "Chinese" five times.
In contrast, Ti said the same manifesto mentioned the word "bumiputera" 25 times, "Malays" 35 times, "Indians" 48 times and "Orang Asli" 24 times.
"At 26 percent of the nation’s population, Malaysian Chinese form the second highest ethnic group in Malaysia.
"Yet, in total, pribumi was mentioned 60 times and the Indians mentioned about 10 times more than the Chinese in the Harapan manifesto.
"This shows that DAP has taken the Chinese vote for granted.
"Disregarding the needs and interests of the Malaysian Chinese, DAP is only interested in the Malay and Indian votes despite claiming to be non-racial," Ti said in a statement today.
Ti also criticised the PAS' election manifesto which was unveiled yesterday accusing it of wanting to implement more draconian religious criminal punishments.
This, he said, was in contrast to BN which was about tolerance, multiracialism and multiculturalism.
"As BN pushes towards meritocracy whereby aid should be delivered on a needs basis rather than on ethnocentrism, disappointingly, the much-hyped Harapan manifesto does not hide its avowed policies for the bumiputera," he said.
Ti accused DAP of caving into preferential social and economic policies for bumiputera equity. - Mkini
