Guan Eng's aide to lodge report on fake tweet on abolishing UiTMs

An aide to Lim Guan Eng will today lodge a police report against a fake tweet depicting the chief minister saying that all Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UiTM) campuses nationwide will be abolished, should Pakatan Harapan win in the 14th general election (GE14).
Lim's information officer Zaidi Ahmad said he noticed the "slanderous" tweet about 8pm yesterday and informed Lim, who confirmed that he did not churn out any such tweet. Lim was also in Shah Alam last night at the launching of Harapan's manifesto.
"I will lodge a police report later and hope the police will act on the culprit, we do not know the identity of the person who tweeted the fake message," the former air force pilot told a press conference in the chief minister's office in the Komtar building said.
( Among the #ManifestoPH which we will launch are steps to save the people's money by abolishing UITMs in the whole country. The allocation will be distributed equally to all government universities under Pakatan Harapan later).
UiTM is a federally funded public university operating since 1956 with emphasis on providing education to rural Malays.
The fake tweet had also carried Lim's Twitter handle @cmlimguaneng, with a photo of the CM, similar to his real account.
Accompanying Zaidi at the press event was Lim, who agreed that the message is "fake and a malicious lie".
He urged the police to probe the matter thoroughly and take appropriate action on those who wished to tarnish his and Harapan's reputation as they face the coming GE14. -Mkini
