Pakatan Harapan said while its seat negotiations are going smoothly, Selangor's state seat allocations can only be finalised after the decision on the Election Committee's redelineation.
“This is because Selangor is the worst affected by the redelineation,” said Harapan secretary-general Saifuddin Abdullah.
“Additionally, the Selangor government has also brought the matter to court. So it is taking longer as compared to the other states in the Peninsula,” he said in a statement today.
Saifuddin added Pahang's state seat negotiations have been completed, and the results will be announced shortly.
“Parliamentary seats for the Peninsula and Sarawak have also been completed,” he said.
The EC's controversial redelineation has been a sore point with the opposition, who claim it will worsen malapportionment and racial balance in favour of the ruling BN.
The commission has also been severely criticised for bulldozing ahead with submitting their report to the prime minister for tabling in the current parliamentary session, despite over 200 objections still pending a hearing.
Bersih has called the EC's move unconstitutional, as only 20 percent of objections have thus far been heard.
Regardless, BN intends to table the redelineation proposal in the present session, after which it has been widely reported the general election is likely to be called. -Mkini
