Penang-born businessman Jho Low has never declared his income in Malaysia, said Finance Minister II Johari Abdul Ghani.
He also told the Dewan Rakyat that the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) has no records regarding Low.
“According to our tax files, there is no such name, because they never declared their income in this country,” he added.
Johari was responding to a question from Lim Lip Eng (Segambut-DAP) regarding Low, who has been implicated in the 1MDB scandal.
The minister said if Low declared his income, then the government would act to tax him as it does other businesspersons.
“The IRB does not care who the person is, as long as there is income in Malaysia, the company is registered here and there is revenue. If you don't pay, IRB will come after you.
“If not today, perhaps tomorrow, if not tomorrow, the following day. If not this year, next year, “ he added. -Mkini
