Warisan deputy president says they must be doing something right if both BN and opposition parties are attacking them.
KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) remains focused on its one mission — to topple the Barisan Nasional government, its deputy president Darell Leiking said today.
He said the party is not going to let any other dispute brought up by the opposition as well as BN parties to distract Warisan from that goal.
“Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but it does not have any effect on us as Warisan is clear in our objectives.
“We are full steam ahead on beating BN because our focus has always been that,” he told FMT.
Sabah opposition parties, Parti Cinta Sabah (PCS) and Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri (Anak Negeri), had recently hit out at Warisan, accusing its president Shafie Apdal of refusing to compromise on its demand for a majority of the state seats.
PCS president Wilfred Bumburing said he was especially upset with the tone the former Umno vice-president had used in discussions over the state seats.
“He acted as though he was the custodian of the seats.”
Leiking said Warisan’s growing popularity had probably made the party a target, not just from BN, but also by other opposition parties.
“That means, we must be doing something they don’t like. Warisan is getting good response every day, with or without the attacks.
“But we don’t need to apologise if they are not happy with us,” he said.
Leiking also called for other opposition parties to re-consider their tactics “because Warisan is not the enemy”.
“Their attacks against us do not matter to me because there’s no point talking about other opposition parties when the focus should always be on BN and trying to beat them as much as possible.
“I hope these opposition parties will see that too,” he said. -FMT
