Mukhriz-Tunku Aziz 'secret pact' trial comes to a close

The hearing of Bersatu deputy president Mukhriz Mahathir’s suit against former Transparency International-Malaysia head Tunku Abdul Aziz Tunku Ibrahim came to a close today, with no more witnesses to testify for the latter.
This was disclosed by Tunku Aziz's counsel, Jahabardeen Mohd Yunus, following re-examination today at the Kuala Lumpur High Court.
Tunku Aziz said before Justice Nordin Hassan during the re-examination that if Mukhriz was not satisfied with the two articles he wrote, he should have filed a statutory declaration.
The former DAP vice-chairperson is being sued for defamation over the two articles, in which he alleged that there was a “secret pact” between Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Lim Kit Siang to make Mukhriz (photo) prime minister.
When cross-examined by Mukhriz's lawyer Mohd Haniff Khatri Abdulla last week, however, Tunku Aziz admitted to not having evidence of this “secret pact.”

Besides Mukhriz, his father took the stand last month, saying that he had never sued anyone for defamation during his tenure as prime minister.
Following the close of the hearing, Nordin fixed April 13 for submissions. -Mkini
