PAS' election manifesto is "sempurna" (perfect), even without mention of hudud, because it already contains all aspects of Islamic teachings, PAS central committee member Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz said today.
"Read, in detail, our Malaysia Sejahtera manifesto which contains nine thrusts, 20 key pledges and special pledges.
"You will find everything is based on Islamic teachings – Islam that is perfect, all-encompassing, prosperous and moderate," he said on his Facebook page today.
Nik Abduh stressed that the manifesto covered religious obligations, the true faith, good behaviour, fair Islamic rules, clean governance and the people's welfare.
Therefore, he added, there was no need to argue why certain terminologies, such as hudud, were omitted.
"Solat (prayers) were not mentioned in the manifesto. You should ask, where is solat? What about zakat and haji?
"Is that not more important in Islamic governance than hudud? Why didn't PAS talk about that?" he asked.
He said critics of the manifesto, especially those who pointed out the omission of hudud, were being narrow-minded.
PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassin, meanwhile, said hudud was already covered in the segment on syariah courts.
"Thus hudud is in there. Hudud is not a big matter. It is among the programmes to strengthen the syariah courts.
"It's like Act 355,” he noted, referring to PAS' proposal to amend the Syariah Courts [Criminal Jurisdiction] Act 1965.
“It doesn't mention hudud, but it strengthens the syariah courts," he said in Kota Bahru today. -Mkini
