PAS to go on offensive in all 59 Perak seats in GE14

Perak PAS said it will contest in all of Perak's 59 state seats in the coming general election, together with its own allies.

"We will not be bound by the rivalries of any party, from any angle," said Perak PAS commissioner Razman Zakaria at a press conference yesterday, reported Sinar Harian.

"The decision was made since out of the 24 parliamentary constituencies, we have over 750 branches across the state, and nearly 100,000 members who will be PAS' machinery in the coming general election.

"At the same time, it gives us society the impression we have enough power to take on the state's administration," he was reported as saying at the Perak PAS office.

Razman added PAS will go it alone in this election without joining any other party.

In 2013, PAS won five Perak state seats as part of the former coalition Pakatan Rakyat.

PAS, having cut ties with the last Pakatan partner PKR last April, has shunned the new opposition coalition Pakatan Harapan and has declared no qualms about creating three-cornered fights across the nation against its former partners and BN.

Its leaders also deny being close to Umno, despite a Singapore Straits Times report that suggested otherwise.

PAS instead formed its own alliance with Parti Ikatan Bangsa Malaysia, calling themselves Gagasan Sejahtera.

Meanwhile according to the report, Razman said he was unable to reveal the party's candidates at the present time.

"Actually, we are targetting all the seats under Gagasan Sejahtera. PAS will take on 43 seats. But we want to win at least 30.

"At this point we have approved four candidates. They come from various backgrounds, some are professionals, some young, some women and some ulama, and also supporters from the non-Muslims.

"However, who is to be fielded is still being discussed," he was reported as saying. -Mkini
