TERENGGANU MB A LAUGHING STOCK AFTER OVER-PRICED RM3MIL BRAND-NEW ‘WATER BUS’ BREAKS DOWN IN MIDDLE OF THE RIVER WHILE HE WAS TEST-DRIVING IT

Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman had wanted to test the state’s newly acquired RM3 million amphibious bus.

However, the bus became stranded as it was crossing the Terengganu river yesterday.

Images of the stranded bus with rescue personnel approaching the vehicle have gone viral on social media.

Razif confirmed that he was behind the wheel when the incident occurred.

“While I was driving the bus, it’s water jet propulsion hose came loose and was disconnected… Alhamdulillah (Thank God) the rescue team managed to control the situation.

“Perhaps, it happened because I had no experience handling the bus, so we have to make sure the bus is manned by an expert,” he was quoted as saying by Bernama.

According to Sin Chew Daily, Razif said the rescue team managed to tow the bus back to shore within 10 minutes.

The menteri besar said he had requested for a test drive.

Razif also assured that the bus was still in its trial period, and more tests would be conducted to ensure its safety.

The amphibious bus made its debut last month with a cruise along the Terengganu river.

The state government had defended the acquisition of the bus despite criticisms, stating that it can be used during flood situations.
