Will Najib listen to brother's voice of reason, asks 'CIA, KGB, MI6 agent' Kit Siang

Lim Kit Siang has asked if Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak will heed his brother and CIMB chairperson Nazir Razak's voice of reason to defer the Anti-Fake News Bill.
The DAP veteran said all right-thinking Malaysians agree with Nazir that fake news must be abhorred, especially those based on lies and incite hatred.
However, he added, the Anti-Fake News Bill is not the solution.
Lim pointed out that he has been a victim of fake news for decades and listed down some of the numerous allegations made against him.
  • Demonised as anti-Malay and anti-Islam;
  • Causing the May 13 riots in Kuala Lumpur in 1969 when I was never in Kuala Lumpur during the relevant period;
  • A communist, agent of foreign powers having been accused of being an agent of CIA, M16, KGB and Australian Intelligence;
  • That I have received RM1 billion from Dr Mahathir Mohamad to allow the entry of Bersatu into Pakatan Harapan;
  • Received RM100 million from Malaysian tycoon Robert Kuok
  • Financed a news portal with RM40 million donation;
  • Received more than a billion ringgit from Israeli sources;
  • And other monstrous and evil lies.
The Gelang Patah MP asked how such activities could have been carried out without the knowledge of the Inland Revenue Board and the police Special Branch.
“It is of course impossible. In fact, Malaysia has one of the most competent, efficient and top-class Special Branch in the world, and the Malaysian Special Branch professionals know these fake news and false information about me are just downright lies – the handiwork of the Umno/BN propagandists and well-funded cybertroopers,” he said in a media statement.
Lim also asked if all those who peddled fake news about him would be arrested, prosecuted and punished when the Anti-Fake News Bill becomes law.
“Of course not. These criminals will continue to enjoy good pay, perks and privileges from the powers-that-be,” he said.
Lim also reiterated his claim that the Anti-Fake News Bill, which has been tabled for second reading in Parliament, as “Save Najib from 1MDB Scandal Bill”.
“I agree with Nazir's call for the deferment of the Anti-Fake News Bill, as the 13th Parliament should not further tarnish and stain Malaysia's reputation by enacting a law that will be a new weapon to cover up corruption,” he said.
Lim said due to his six-month suspension from Parliament, he is unable to debate on the Anti-Fake News Bill.
“I had wanted to ask the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Azalina Othman Said in the debate on whether Najib would be the first to be charged under the Anti-Fake News Act for the fake news last week that the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) had cleared him of any wrongdoing in the 1MDB scandal, when the PAC report had not done so.
“Azalina can still answer this question,” he added. -Mkini
