AFTER INITIAL SCARE, AGONG TO SWEAR IN MAHATHIR AS PM THIS EVENING, SAYS REPORT: EC OFFICIALS SPOTTED LEAVING PALACE AFTER BRIEFING THE KING ON GE14 RESULTS

KUALA LUMPUR – Election Commission (EC) officials today entered and left Istana Negara, the national palace, as reports of a possible swearing-in ceremony thus evening picked up.
Several government cars carrying EC officials left the palace at 3.45pm, followed shortly by cars bearing the stamp of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Supporters waving PKR flags have started gathering at one of the palace’s exit points.

Pakatan Harapan chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is expected to be sworn in as the 7th Prime Minister of Malaysia today after his pact won the elections yesterday, in a major upset that saw them end Barisan Nasional’s 60-year rule of the country. – Malay Mail
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhamad V will grant Pakatan Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad an audience at 5pm at Istana Negara, according to Reuters.
Quoting Harapan’s chief secretary Saifuddin Abdullah, the report said the coalition’s prime minister-designate will be accompanied by four other leaders.
Although the four were not named, it is believed the delegation would comprise leaders of the coalition’s four parties, PKR’s Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, DAP’s Lim Guan Eng, Bersatu’s Muhyiddin Yassin and Amanah’s Mohamad Sabu. – MKINI
