After a three-day tug of war, state Pakatan Harapan and Bersatu chief Ahmad Faizal Azumu has been sworn in as the menteri besar of Perak.
The swearing in ceremony was held at around 6.15pm this evening at the Istana Iskandariah in Kuala Kangsar, before state ruler Sultan Nazrin Shah.
Around 100 supporters gathered outside the palace upon hearing news that Harapan would form the state government.
After Harapan assemblypersons had met the sultan earlier this afternoon, Ahmad Faizal told the media that they had achieved 31 seats with the defections of two BN assemblypersons.
In a press conference about an hour later, Perak BN chief and former menteri besar Zambry Abd Kadir confirmed the defections to Harapan, which gives the latter the majority in the state assembly.
He also said that Perak BN accepts ruler Sultan Nazrin Shah's decision to let Harapan form the state government. - Mkini
