PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim has hit out those who have been lobbying for ministerial positions.
“I mock MPs who wanted to become ministers. Look in the mirror first. You’ve won, alhamdulillah. The rakyat supported you.
“If you become a minister, do your job.
“(Some) have been so busy trying to become a minister... Well, just be a minister in the kitchen, that’s sufficient,” he added, though not naming anyone in particular.
Anwar was addressing over 5,000 of his supporters who had thronged Padang Timur in Petaling Jaya for his first speech since being released from prison and pardoned by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
In his speech tonight, Anwar also reminded top Pakatan Harapan leaders that they must continue to work.
Citing PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli, Anwar pointed out how the former worked hard despite being ineligible to contest in the recent 14th general election.
“Thank God we won, if we didn’t he would have been imprisoned.
“But he worked so hard as though he was contesting. He worked harder than those who contested,” he said.
Rafizi has caused a stir when he claimed that Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad had "bulldozed" the appointment of three cabinet ministers last week without consulting PKR.
It was learned that PKR representatives were not present during the meeting in which Mahathir decided on who would fill the posts of finance minister, defence minister and home minister.
Rafizi’s statement had drawn criticism by many who said that he should have kept his comments to himself.
DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng was appointed as finance minister while Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin and Amanah president Mohamad Sabu were appointed as home minister and defence minister respectively. -Mkini
