BOMBSHELL – HISHAM THE NEXT TO DISTANCE HIMSELF FROM NAJIB? ‘EVEN UMNO’S FOUNDER WAS PUT ASIDE WHEN THE PEOPLE SAW THE BIGGER PICTURE’ – PM’S COUSIN STRIKES ANOTHER CONCILIATORY NOTE, SAYS ‘NOT SO ARROGANT’ TO DISCOUNT MALAY TSUNAMI AS IT’S UP TO THE PEOPLE

BUKIT BERUNTUNG – The strength of Barisan Nasional (BN) in Johor remains firm despite former Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s quest to break its bastion in the state, said Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.
History, he said showed that the bigger picture is that the party is more important than individuals.
“Even Umno’s founder (Datuk Sir Onn Jaafar) was put aside when the people saw the bigger picture.
“That’s what happened to Tun Musa Hitam. (It was also) the case with Tun Dr Ismail when he was not in the same line-up with (first Prime Minister) Tunku Abdul Rahman,” he told reporters after opening the “Jalinan Kasih” programme with Hulu Selangor constituents at the Teratai Apartments today.
Also present were BN’s Hulu Selangor parliamentary candidate Datuk P. Kamalanathan, Selangor BN deputy chairman and Batang Kali state seat candidate Datuk Mat Nadzari Ahmad Dahlan, Hulu Bernam candidate Datuk Rosni Sohar and Kuala Kubu Baru candidate Datuk Wong Koon Mun.
Denying that Johor will fall to the Opposition due to Muhyiddin’s renewed involvement in the state, the Sembrong parliamentary candidate remains confident that BN will retain its power come polling day.
“If we are worried about Johor, I don’t think I will be in Hulu Selangor today (yesterday).
“If we are worried about Johor, I don’t think I would be at Bandar Tun Razak and Setiawangsa yesterday morning.
“I was in Muar three days ago. In fact I was in Pagoh three days ago. What is so special about Muhyiddin?
“God willing we will retain Johor,” he said.
When asked about a possible Malay tsunami, Hishammuddin said such matters are up to the people to decide.
“I don’t want to be so arrogant to say that it won’t happen but whatever it is, it keeps us (BN) on our toes. It makes us realise that we cant take things for granted.”
In PAGOH, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said after switching camps, he has noticed that there are voters in his constituency who are doubtful of him.
However, the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia president said he had an advantage in the race to defend his Pagoh parliament seat as he was more popular than his two opponents.
Speaking to theSun, Muhyiddin said he believed voters had not forgotten the contributions he had made to the constituency since winning it in 1978.
“The question on politics is a personal matter. They (voters) understand what I have done, the contributions and sacrifices I have made,” Muhyiddin said when met during his visit to Felcra Bukit Kepong.
