Do not let BN win Penang even by accident - Guan Eng

GE14 | Penang voters must not let BN win by "accident" in the coming polling day on May 9, said DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.

Lim urged voters to dismiss the murmurs going around that they should cast their votes for Pakatan Harapan candidates in the parliamentary seats and vote BN in the state seats.

This follows BN candidates campaigning that voters should vote them into the state assembly to be the "checks and balances".

"In this 11-day campaign period, we can see that BN is not fit to be elected again," said the caretaker chief minister after a four-hour walkabout in Air Itam.

"Just look at how their institutions work, for example the Election Commission (EC) messing around with overseas votes, and the cutting out of Dr Mahathir Mohamad's photos on banners.

"In their manifesto, they cancel out infrastructure projects like the light railway train system (LRT)," Lim said.

"How can we elect such representatives? If elected, they will oppose the undersea tunnel and the LRT. What do they want Penang to do then?" asked the Air Putih candidate.

Lim said if Harapan manages to win both Putrajaya and states, they can fully carry out projects that benefit the people like LRT in island mainland.

He said if Harapan wins only in the Parliament but loses the state to BN, the situation would be a "stalemate" again.

"Such a situation may be exciting for observers, but tense for us.

"We cannot lose even one seat, as we will lose our bargaining power. We must win all seats available as insurance, so that we can fight BN's "dirty tricks"," Lim said.

"Now is not the time to take risks. Every single vote counts. So do not let BN win by accident, do not ever let them win again," he added. - Mkini
