GE14 | Former Bersatu member Anina Saadudin has revealed a list of 488 firms purportedly controlled by Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his children, Mokhzani, Marina, Mirzan and Mukhriz.
In a press statement, she claimed the records of all these firms could be found in the Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM).
“I am willing to accompany Mokhzani to the CCM office in Langkawi,” added the former Langkawi Wanita Umno member.
Anina said Mokhzani should do this as soon as possible before the 42,000 voters in Langkawi cast their ballots tomorrow.
Mahathir is contesting the Langkawi parliament seat against the Umno incumbent Nawawi Ahmad and PAS' Zubir Ahmad.
Previously, Mokhzani had demanded Anina to show proof that he had amassed a wealth of RM170 billion and owned 488 companies.
Mahathir's critics, including caretaker prime minister Najib Abdul Razak, have often raised the wealth of the former premier's children.
In a recent Twitter posting, Najib claimed that Mokhzani obtained contracts from Petronas worth billions when his father was prime minister.
Mokhzani, whom Forbes magazine listed as among the richest people in Malaysia, had denied this, and described the claim as “fake news”.
Meanwhile, Anina said Mokhzani and former finance minister Daim Zainuddin are welcome to file a lawsuit against her for questioning their wealth.
“All I have is a house and three children....
“Although I am a single mother, my children, my integrity and my God are sufficient to complete my life. I have never wielded power nor stolen public funds,” she added. - Mkini
