Faekah Husin, 7 others ordered to return RM2.7m to Selangor

The Court of Appeal today overturned a decision of the High Court in Shah Alam and ordered former Selangor menteri besar Khalid Ibrahim's political secretary, Faekah Husin, and seven others to repay Selangor Menteri Besar Inc RM2.7 million.
A three-member panel led by Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat ruled that these were unauthorised payments and ordered the total sum to be returned.
However, the bench did not make any order as to costs.
The other judges were Justice Harminder Singh Dhaliwal and Justice Hasnah Mohamed Hashim.
The Selangor Menteri Besar Inc (MBI) and the Selangor government, which appealed against the High Court decision, were represented by senior lawyer and former Federal Court judge Gopal Sri Ram and Edwin Lim.
Faekah and the eight others were represented by Edmund Bon and New Sin Yew.
It was previously reported that Khalid had given compensation to eight former MBI officers - chief executive officer Rohani Talib, Faekah, Arfa’eza Abdul Aziz; Mustapha Mohd Talib; Rahimah Kamarudin; Sulaiman Masri; Abdul Halim Mohamed Yusof and Tuan Nazuri Tuan Ismail - when he quit his post after the long-drawn Selangor menteri besar crisis in 2014.
On Jan 16, 2015, the current Menteri Besar Mohd Azmin Ali ordered all of them to return their compensation sums of between RM114,870 and RM699,000 each, which allegedly breached the state government’s financial procedures, failing which MBI initiated the legal proceedings.
Khalid had claimed moral victory when the High Court dismissed the suit. - Mkini
