FREE-FOR-ALL CORRUPTION? ‘MALACCA BN REPS EXHAUSTED ONE YEAR’S ALLOCATION IN LESS THAN 5 MONTHS’ – EXCO

Newly-minted Malacca exco Ginie Lim claimed nine BN state assemblyperson from the previous term had already exhausted their allocation for the whole for 2018.

She said the allocations were specifically for those under the Alor Gajah municipal council which briefed her on the finances today.

Lim, who is the Machap Jaya assemblyperson, said according to the briefing, the allocation totalled RM3.9 million which included RM380,000 for assemblypersons and RM500,000 for exco members.

“The mess left behind by the BN state government impacts the new Pakatan Harapan government’s efforts to improve the state.

“It is unfair to voters as well as the current government,” she said in a statement.

Lim said the allocations were meant to be utilised accordingly in the first half and second half of the year and not finished up by the first quarter of the year.

The said the current scenario was a result of abuse of power in the approval of funds.

Malacca saw a new government installed after BN lost the state for the first time since independence following the May 9 general election.
